 Brief History of SNoG

The Social Network of Graduates was formed way back in 1997 as an outlet for young, professional people to socialise with others outside the confines of their own department, to share the experiences of graduate life with others, and - of course - to overcome Canberra's reputation for a dull party scene.

SNoG has steadily grown as new graduates increase in sophistication.

SNoG is an organisation that is run by graduates, for graduates. Over time, we have expanded our activities for Members to encompass a much broader range of events and community functions. Whilst initially just a loose association that had a Ball once a year, SNoG has grown to organise many notable events, including massive Ski Trips and Trivia nights. Dotted in between are a broad range of social gatherings, from low-key barbeques to speed-dating to intense pub crawls.

However, with rising sophistication, SNoG has come to develop a Corporate and Social Responsibility framework and community service focus in the last year. We actively engage with the Canberra community in providing awareness and volunteers for a number of worthy causes, and recently have been financially supporting notable charities.

The Committee of 2009 warmly embrace our colourful history, and we constantly seek to broaden the range and depth of the activities that we can provide to our members.

We are always open to new suggestions, so feel free to discuss your ideas with us. Otherwise, we look forward to a great 2009!!
