Sugarloaf Hill Planting, Sunday 14 June
Join the ACT Government, Greening Australia and Volunteer Bushfire Brigades in planting and watering 3000 native trees, shrubs and grasses around Sugarloaf Hill in the Pierces Creek area.
What time? 9:30am to 12:30pm, followed by lunch
Where? Vanity's Crossing Road (off Paddy’s River Road), Pierces Creek Forest
How to get there? CATCH A BUS OR CAR POOL.
Bus details: A bus will pick up volunteers at the City West bus terminal on Marcus Clarke St (between University Ave and Allsop St) at 8:45am and then pick up volunteers at Deeks Forest Park on Uriarra Rd at 9:00am. N.B. There is only one bus that will pick up volunteers at both locations. When RSVPing, please indicate if you would like a seat on the bus. RSVP early to secure your seat.
If driving from north and central Canberra, head west on Cotter Rd, cross the Murrumbidgee and Cotter Rivers, drive 2.7km past the Cotter Reserve (picnic area), then turn right onto Vanity's Crossing Rd.
If driving from Tuggeranong, head for Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and keep driving for about 15km on Paddy's River Rd towards the Cotter until you get to Vanity's Crossing Rd on your left. Look for GA directional signs.
What to bring/wear? Hat, sunscreen, long sleeves, gardening gloves, long pants, gaiters (if you have a pair), sturdy boots, water bottle
What to expect? A little blackberry and fallen timber, great views, portaloos, forecast of 12 degrees (average for June)
